Jakkanat Inmee and Poosit Supupramai shared a clubhouse lead in the first round of the Singha Laguna Phuket Open 2021 in Phuket on Thursday.
Jakkanat and Poosit each shot a 3-under-67 at the par-70 Laguna Golf Phuket. Fifty-four players have not finished their round thanks to darkness after the competition had been suspended twice due to rain.
Poosit, who is bidding for his first win on All Thailand Golf Tour, made an eagle, four birdies, one bogey and a double bogey while Jakkanat, who turned pro last year, fired five birdies and two bogeys.
“Considering the course with such a tough condition, I am very happy with my round. It rains and it is windy out there. It is not easy at all,” said Poosit, the Ratchaburi native
Sakchai Sirimaya and Chayodom Chanjaruphong were one shot behind the leaders while defending champion Pawin Ingkhapradit traded his four birdies with three bogeys for a 71.
The 30-year-old Pawin, who came from three shots to win last year’s title, is looking for his fourth ATGT wins.
He said that the course was not much different from last year and it was going to be tough with rain and steep rough.
Amateur Ratchanon Chantananuwat, last year’s low amateur, started his campaign with a 70 after firing one birdie and one bogey.
The winner of the 5th edition of the 3-million baht Singha Laguna Phuket Open will receive 450,000 baht and five world ranking points.
