Sadom takes clubhouse lead at Singha Laguna Phuket Open

In-form Sadom Kaewkanjana took a clubhouse lead on 6-under-134 in the second round of the Singha Laguna Phuket Open on Friday.

The 23-year-old golfer from Narathiwat posted a second-round 65 at

par-70 Laguna Golf Phuket.  With a two-round total of 6-under,  Sadom stayed at the top of the leaderboard. More than 60 players have not finished their round after the competition was suspended due to inclement weather.

Sadom, who is fresh from winning his maiden victory on ThaiPGA tour last week, is bidding for his third win on All Thailand Golf Tour.

“Overall, I am very happy with my round because the course is so tough.

It is raning and it is also windy,” said Sadom, who fired an eagle at 3rd and three birdies in a bogey-free round.

Sadom, ranked third on the ATGT money list, did not set any target at this tough course. Instead, he would try to give his best.

“This course is very difficult. Anything can happen. I just want to go out and do my best. Play one shot at a time.”

One shot behind was Nirun Sae-ueng who made a 67 with five birdies and two bogey.

Chanachok Dejpiratanamongkol, who won here in 2018, shot a 66 for a 4-under to stay tied for second alongside Chayodom Chanjaruphong (68) and Witchayapat Sinsrang (68) ATGT money leader Settee Prakongvech, who won Singha All Thailand Championship last month, carde a second round 66 to stay four shots behind leader Sadom.

Rattanon Wannasrichan improved with a 68 to say at 2-under.

Defending champion  Pawin Ingkhapradit stayed at 1-under with seven holes to play while amateur Ratchanon Chantananuwat was at 2-under with four holes to play.

The 14-year-old Ratchanon, who was the low amateur here last year, said that this year’s course was much different from last year. However, he has changed a game plan a bit this year since he hits a ball longer.

“I hit longer this year. I can play more aggressive at some holes”

The winner of the 5th edition of the 3-million baht Singha Laguna Phuket Open will receive 450,000 baht and five world ranking points.
