Sadom secures 3rd ATGT title in Phuket

Sadom Kaewkanjana stormed into a four-shot victory after firing a final

64 at the Singha Laguna Phuket Open 2021 on Sunday.

Taking a two-shot lead after three rounds at the 3-million baht tournament, Sadom made seven birdies against three bogeys on his way to a 4-under-66 at par-70 Laguna Golf Phuket. With a four-round total of 14-under, he won by four shots over amateur Ratchanon Chantananuwat (67).

Tirawat Kaewsiribandit, who suffered a double bogey at 16th en route for a 69, finished third on 8-under. Piya Sawangarunporn shot a 68 for 5th place on 7-under with Poosit Supupramai (70) a stroke behind on 6-under.

It was a second consecutive win for Sadom, who won the ThaiPGA tour event, also in Phuket last week.  Sadom took home 450,000 baht for his third win on All Thailand Golf Tour after success at Thongchai Jaidee Foundation 2019 and Singha Pattaya Open 2017. This title also earned him five world ranking points.

“I am over the moon to make it. Actually, I did not expect to win two weeks in a row. Just want to do my best. I am really proud of myself,”

said Sadom, who has moved up to the top of the ATGT money list of

897,100 baht after three events.

Sadom started with a second-hole bogey but fought back with seven birdies including six birdies from 8th -14th hole before dropping a shot at 15th and 17th.

“I did not start that well. But after making six birdies in six holes, I thought that it is my day. I putted really well today”.

As for the 14-year-old Ratchanon, he successfully defended his low amateur award. It was also another impressive result after sharing fifth at last month’s Singha All Thailand Championship. Nicknamed “TK”, Ratchanon became the youngest player to make the cut on All Thailand Golf Tour when he qualified for the weekend rounds at the Singha Pattaya Open in Chon Buri.

The next stop of ATGT will be the Singha Pattaya Open to be held at Burapha Golf & Resort, Chon Buri on Octorber 21-24.
