Singha Laguna Phuket Open 2020 will be held at Laguna Golf Phuket, Phuket on October 15-18.


In its fourth edition, the annual tournament by All Thailand Golf Tour (ATGT), is confirmed to be staged at par-70 Laguna Golf Phuket on the island of Phuket, offering the prize purse of 2-million Baht.


Apart from supporting the game of golf in the region and promoting Phuket as the region’s sports hub, the prestigious event aims at luring the tourists to the province. With a concern of the Covid-19 outbreak, health measures are well-planned to make sure the golfers and involved parties are safe and able to enjoy the tournament at the award-winning course.


Since its inception, the Singha Laguna Phuket Open has enjoyed its success in terms of growing the games and promoting the sports and tourism in the region. Chananchok Dejpiratanamongkol won the inaugural edition in 2017. He took a four-shot lead after three rounds before closing with a 67 to win by a shot on 27-under at the par-70 course. A year later, Varanyu Rattanaphiboonkij cruised to his first professional title with a wire-to-wire victory. Varanyu followed up his opening 62 with a second round 61 for a 17-under. Taking an 8-shot advantage on 18-under after round three, Varanyu comfortably savored his 6-stroke victory on 18-under following his final 70. Last year, the title went to Miguel Carballo, who became the eighth foreigner to win on the All Thailand Golf Tour. The Argentine, trailing the leader by four shots after three rounds, beat Chinnarat Phadungsil and Joohyung Kim in the playoff. They shared at the top of the leaderboard on 15-under in a 72-hole regulation.


This year’s event is sure to be a tournament to watch with many fast-rising stars waiting their chances to show their skills against the veterans.


The final two rounds on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 will be live on Social Media Platform via All Thailand Golf Tour YouTube Channel, All Thailand Golf Tour Facebook Page and All Thailand Golf Tour Website . With the media exposure, the tournament is expected to be an opportunity to show the potential of Phuket in becoming a sports hub in the region an also attract the tourists to the province. Under the government policy of the sports tourism, golf is among the sports events to boost the economy. Staged in Laguna Phuket, the Asia’s finest integrated resort, the tournament will stun the golfers and the audiences with its unique and special offerings. The tournament featuring 144 players also showcase the must-see tourist attractions in the Phuket Island, better known as “The Pearl of the Andaman”. These include Laem Phromthep and viewpoints, Old Phuket Town, Ko Racha and Ko Mai Thon, Wat Chalong (Wat Chai Thara), Hat Patong, Hat Nai Yang, Hat surin, Hat Laem Sing, Traditional Festivals and Phuket FantaSea.


Due to the ongoing outbreak of Covid-19 in the world, the organizer prioritizes the safety and well-beings of the players and communities. In addition to strictly following the government’s measures and policies, the health and safety guidelines are also provided on and off the golf course in accordance with the Ministry of Public Health.
